Apple vs. Microsoft
In the computer and technology industry, Apple and
Microsoft are names with great reputation. They are corporations that design
and develop computers and software products.
While more than one person helped the foundation of the two big
companies, Steve Jobs, Apple founder, and Bill Gates, Microsoft founder, are
better recognized for their hard work that they have imported in their
companies with great ideas and products. Both Companies are well known for the
computer products, and also their smartphones.
Quality and modern technology are what Apple and
Microsoft are about. PC’s are most common and used; in the other hand Macs offers
better quality. When deciding which
product to buy, a PC has a more variety of choices. They use Windows as their
operating system, known as OS, but different designers like HP, Dell and many
more, unlike Apple, which distributes Mac computers and laptops. Macs use an
operating system known as IOS, which are only used by Macs. They have the
ability to run Windows as their secondary operating system. An advantage that
Mac computers have over PCs is that Macs don’t get viruses like Windows. PCs
have a higher change of getting viruses and crash if an antivirus is not
installed, but they have an advantage over Macs in price wise. Macs more
expensive than PCs. The starting price of a MacBook Pro is $ 1,199.00, while a
PCs price varies and as low as $300, depending on what kind of computer once
chooses. Macs are typically offer computer with great graphic cards, which
makes it a great computer for photographers and video editing, not to mention
that they are powerful enough to produce music.
Apple and Microsoft offer different types of products. Apple makes computers, Microsoft doesn’t. They
made Microsoft, which is the most used operating system. Microsoft introduced the portable table PCs
and later on introduced their new and improved tablet called surface. While
Microsoft introduced their tablet, they didn’t have as much success as Apple
did with the iPad. When Apple introduced the iPad, it seemed like the first
tablet created. Both Apple and Microsoft distribute tablets, but apple’s iPad
is the number one choice, according to cnet.com. Microsoft has an advantage on
gaming consoles, they own Xbox 360 and on the other hand Apple doesn’t make
gaming consoles. Apple’s iPhone toped
the Windows’s phone, by becoming the fastest world smartphone as of 2012 by
thenetweb.com. The main products that Apple and Microsoft compete with are the
computer industry.
Apple is
also well known for their smartphone products. The iPhone has become one of the
best smartphones out there. Their first iPhone was released in 2007 and it has
evolved ever since. It started with the iPhone 2G and has been improving each
year. Apple’s iPhone 5 is well
recognized by most people and it was released in 2012. The Windows phone HTC
Windows Phone 8x is a great smartphone but not as good as the iPhone 5. They are both multi touch but the iPhone has
better rating according to techrunch.com. Both smart phones have great camera
as well as display and resolution, but what makes the iPhone 5 a better phone
is the operating system that it uses. iPhone uses iOS 6 and windows uses
Windows 8. Most buyers prefer an iOS device over a Window’s phone OS and the
amount of sells that the iPhone has proves that. IPhone and Windows are great
smartphones and depending on the type of user one is, one will choice their
preference.
Overall,
Apple and Microsoft are companies that helped the technology grow. They’ve changed
the computer industry by releasing new products. The Mac and the PC are very
competitive but they are both good choices, it depends on what kind of computer
one chooses and looking for. If someone wants a powerful computer with great
graphics and portable, a MacBook pro is a great choice, but it’ll cost a lot
more than a simple PC. There are different
types of tables and between the iPad and the Windows Surface; it is ones
opinion and choice to pick the right one.
Same goes for smart phones.
Whether someone prefers and Apple product or a Windows product, one
needs to look at the type of specifications for a better and what one component
has and what the other doesn’t.
